5 Secrets of Sly Park Camping(Jenkinson Lake Campgrounds)

Sly Park Campground is on the shore of lake and a one hour drive from Sacramento located near Sly Park Road which is south of Highway 50 in El Dorado County, California.

The campground has 9 separate camping locations all of which vary in their terrain and activity groupings. It is open all year. Tents and Rvs up to 40 feet are welcome.

Sly Park campground requires a minimum of a two nights stay when you book a reservation on the weekend and a 3-night stay is required when you book your reservation on Holiday weekends.

Pinecone Sites

Pinecone strip is a section in Sly Park with is home to some of the best water front views and lake-oriented camping activities that you can possibly imagine. All of the camping sites located in the Pinecone strip area of the park only allow tents due to the fact that the parking spurs are not adequately leveled to suit trailers or campers.

You will also not be able to find any discounts for these areas of the park as the only option is paying full price.

Water Sports Camping Activities

If you’re someone who enjoys camping by the water, Sly Park offers water-front sites in the Sierra, Pine Cone, and Chimney camp areas. All of these sites are located close to the lake and come with waterfront views which allow you to dock your boat close to the campsite.

Family Camping

Sly Park campground is home to a lot of family sites primarily located in the Sierra and Pinecone Strip campgrounds which allows you to engage in a wide range of different family related activities. These sites are designed to host larger groups of campers which makes it easy for you to bring along the whole family so that you can create memorable moments with the ones you love most.

There is also a plethora of regular sties available at Sly Park campground, some of the most popular sites on the grounds are located near the back. These sites include: Rainbow, Dogwood, Kamloop, Rainbow, Hazel, and more, all of these sites are located away from water and cater to those who want more of a traditional camping experience without being directly near a lake or another body of water.

Hilltop is one of the least congested areas on the campground and can accommodate large motor homes while other sites such as Stonebreaker are adjacent to the boat docking pad and allow for traditional camping experiences without the need for a boat or other equipment.

The park has some areas that are near lakefront locations while other are hundreds of yards away from the shore. Regardless of what location you may visit, all of them are outfitted with premium amenities and complimentary service options so that you can make the most out of your camping experience.
