7 ways to get campfire smell out of clothes

When people go camping, they build a campfire. Campers enjoy the wood-burning aroma and warmth of the fire in the night. The campfire leaves a smoky smell on the campers.

Here, we have compiled 7 simple ways to get rid of campfire smell.

  1. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice or any other citrus fruit such as lime can be used to remove the smoky smell from clothes. First, mix lemon juice with warm or hot water. Then, put the mixture in a spray bottle. After that, spray your clothes with the mixture. Lemons contain citric acid, which reacts with smoky chemicals and neutralizes the smell.

  1. Alcohol Spray

Alcohol is used by perfume manufacturing companies in their products. Because, when alcohol gets hit, it starts evaporating and releases a good odor. Strong liquor like vodka can be used to get rid of campfire smell from clothes. For removing smoky scent, alcohol is mixed with hot water. Then stinky clothes are soaked in the mixture. At first, your clothes will have an alcoholic smell but once the booze evaporates, your clothes will smell good.

  1. SunDry

Sundry is the easiest and quickest method that is widely used by campers. In this method, campers first wash their clothes in warm water and then let it dry on the sunlight. This is an ideal method if you don’t have alcohol or lemon. Although it’s not an effective method, it can still reduce the campfire smell from your clothes.

  1. Hot Water

This is one of the most popular methods for getting rid of campfire smell from clothes. In this method, hot water is used for washing clothes. The reason for using hot water is that it softens the fabric. Detergents penetrate better in such fabric. This will help you get rid of the campfire smell from your clothes.

  1. White Vinegar Wash

Another way to remove campfire smell is to use white vinegar with other detergents. First, put your clothes in the washing machine and add warm water and detergents. Then, add vinegar. Vinegar has acetic acid which neutralizes the odor-causing chemicals. These chemicals cannot be removed by using a detergent only.

  1. Baking Soda Wash

Besides using it as a cleaning product, baking soda can be used to remove the smoky scent from clothes. One cup of baking soda is added to the washing machine. It mixes with water and detergent. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, which neutralizes odors. It works like the vinegar but it is in a powdered form.

  1. Enzymatic Cleaner

This method is used when all other methods fail to remove the stinky smell. The enzymatic cleaner has good bacteria. This bacterium eliminates campfire odors. It also removes mold and mildew. In this method, you will fill your bathtub with water. After that soak your clothes in water and then add the enzymatic cleaner.

The above seven methods can be utilized to remove campfire smoke from your clothes. If a camper knows these methods, he can enjoy a campfire without worrying about its smell.
