How to Take Eggs with You While Camping

Eggs can be amazing and edible, but one thing is that they are not unbreakable.

The good news for egg-loving campers is that despite their fragile reputation, those delicious little orbs can travel quite well on their next outdoor adventure.

How to Carry

  • The easiest way to carry fresh eggs on a camping trip is to buy a plastic egg carrier. These are available at sporting goods stores and many major discount stores. They usually have a dozen eggs, are made of unbreakable plastic, and are inexpensive.

– The second principle is to keep everything clean, as bacterias in raw meat and poultry products can easily spread to other foods through juices dripping from packages, hands, or utensils.

Powdered or freeze-dried, eggs can be purchased in quantities ranging from single-dose sachets of two-pound cans (the equivalent of 85 eggs). Simply mix with hot water to reconstitute the powder and use the resulting product as you would with fresh eggs.
