Can a Chevy Traverse Tow a Travel Trailer or Popup Camper?

The Chevy Traverse can tow 5000 lbs with trailering package, 1500 lbs without.

That is enough power to pull a small RV camper trailer.

One of the most popular three-row SUVs, the 2021 Chevy Traverse is stylish and generously-equipped with the capability to take on your daily drives or your next family adventure with supreme style and confidence. With a flexible interior space and roomy accommodation, the Traverse can seat up to eight people. Boasting a cargo storage space of 98 cubic feet, the Traverse is the largest cargo capacity SUV in its class.

Exterior

This year, the Chevy Traverse stands out from the crowd and finished with a well-defined and polished front end with improved headlamps and a sculpted front fascia. And there are several features to look forward to, depending on the trim level. Lower-level trims come standard with 18-inch wheels which are available in a variety of finishes, such as painted aluminum. There’s also all-terrain tires and a spare wheel of the same size available. The top-level trims are furnished with larger 20-inch wheels that are offered in more colors and styles. Automatic headlamps are standard across the board, giving the Traverse considerable visibility. Some trims also give you access to special packages that add molding, unique colors, and other trim-specific features.

Interior

We can only describe the 2021 Chevy Traverse with three words – space, space, and even more space! This three-row SUV gives you plenty of legroom and headroom in all three rows, and it gives you a 98 cubic feet cargo space when the second and third-row seats are folded. The Traverse comes with an all-new center console and sophisticated dashboard design, and depending on the trim level you go for, you’ll enjoy modern features like a panoramic sunroof and a power-folding third-row seat, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, tri-zone climate control, onboard Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone app integration.

Engine and Performance

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse has the same engine and transmission across all trim levels. The engine is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with front-wheel drive and is available with all-wheel drive.

Safety

The 2021 Chevy Traverse comes with safety systems to ensure you and your family drive with complete peace of mind. Lane-keep assist technology corrects your path if you’re not staying in your lane, forward-collision monitoring technology alerts you if your vehicle senses that you’re approaching an impact with another vehicle, and blind-spot monitoring provides you with an extra pair of eyes around the perimeter of your vehicle. Other features include Chevy’s Rear Camera Mirror, HD surround vision camera system, and Front Pedestrian Braking.

Towing Capacity

Depending on the equipment you choose, the 2021 Chevy Traverse can tow between 1500 lbs. and 5000 lbs. Without the available trailer package, Traverse drivers can tow up to 1500 pounds and a maximum of 5000 pounds with the available trailering package with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive.
