Can You Put a Garbage Disposal in an RV?

You can put a garbage disposal in an RV sink. However it a not a good idea because food can clog the gray water plumbing. It also add weight, uses lots of water, takes space, and uses power.

 

If you are full time and have permanent direct access to sewer then it is a better idea.

Gray water collects wastewater from drains in shower and kitchen. It has some bacteria but no solids. Most RVs hold 20 gallons.

 

A garbage disposal works by shredding food with impellers driven by electric motor. There is a waste line that connects to sewer. Here are some photos:
